some things are just fun and exciting
Guess what I did?
Ok, I'll just tell you.
I got a new car! *yay!* Not a New new car, but rather a new Used car. But its the newest car I've every had, or driven (except for that rental car, a few months ago). And yes, it sure is going to cost me a hell of a lot over the next few years. (Details like prices and loans will be omitted for the purpose of this post. This post is for the fun stuff of getting a new car only!). I might have not made the best choice in my car. I know my parents are giving me hell for it. But I'm not that worried or concerned anymore. It was sort of fun to just do it, after only doing a small amount of research and decide to totally splurge. Anyway, I don't think I'm being irresponsible or anything. I'm veering largely from my parent's spending habits, which is sort of cool in a way. They usually are into cheap, old cars, what my dad likes to call "beater cars" or just stupid cheap cars. I got an expensive car and it is exciting and new and fun. I also got shit because its not a Toyota or a Honda, which are apparently car gods according to my parents. And yes I am sure they are excellent awesome 100% great cars, especially when it comes to older/cheaper cars. But I didn't get one. Although my car is not old, and it has a warranty on it. It also has a bunch of snazzy ass features that I will not be bored with. And its smooth. After driving the Jetta, which probalby needed a new transmission, according to my dad, also which needed new brakes (like they're going to go out within a week or two probably), didn't have a working heater or A/C, a broken radio, you couldnt open the glove compartment, the oil light sensor started beeping after about 10 minutes of driving, it stutters, jumps and runs horribly. And who knows what other enginey things were wrong with it. Anyway almost any car is awesome after that! And my 2006 Hyundai Sonata is really awesome. And smooth, and shiny, and clean, and sparkly and all kinds of magical. It also has 6 airbags and a bunch of other saftey features. Safety was one of my top concerns, along with reliability. And it has a manufacturers warranty as well as an additional warranty I got on top of that. So that should help if anything (or should I say when anything?) goes wrong on it.
Anyway there's no use in hassling me for not getting a Toyota or Honda. My parents have doen that enough. And the deal's done. So I'm not fretting over it. I'm just going to enjoy it for once. And cruise in my amazingly newly awesomely (expensive) car with some fun.
And also this means that I can go like ANYWHERE and visit everyone I know! (Except I'll be broke from now on permanently so we won't be able to do anything expensive when I get there. We can just cruise around in my car!)
Anyway I don't mean to be sounding bragging or anything. Because I'm not. I'm in almost twice as much debt as I was before I bought this car. I have basically no money, no anything. But I just got a new car anyway. And thats one huge problem sort of simplified for me. And I think it will help alot. Part of the reason I haven't wanted to drive lately is because the Jetta had so many problems. And now the next step is to move into an apartment in this shit hole. And then for the next year I will try to pay for all my expensive decisions and save money up to move and go to grad school (hopefully!) Also it's probably better to make an expensive purchase in a town like this, where everything else is fairly cheap. Whatever, it doesn't matter. I've got a new car and I will hopefully have it for a while (well I'll be paying on it for a LONG while) so let's enjoy it!

A reliable car is what they call "good debt." So congrats.
Also, my mom has some apartment info that might help you out. Call her, or I'll tell her to call you.

And I'm going to get in touch with your mom soon regarding the apartment stuff. Thanks again. You're so helpful!
Yay!
Anywhooo - I got off on a tangent. Congradulations! A 2006 might as well be brand new. Someone else just took the hit of the initial depreciation for you.
So, umm... when would you like to visit Gettysburg?
Re: Yay!
As for visiting, definitely I would like to this summer, but it probably won't be for a few weeks, I have to do some stuff this coming weekend but we should try to plan out a few weekends that would work for us and see what happens!
