and then i watched the actual show
So tonight's episode is another one that doesn't move the story forward at all, just like last weeks. But this week was much nicer, and I'd say I liked it better. I liked this sort of character, relationship study. It was nice, but sort of pointless as far as the plotline. But I liked! I don't see a point in hating on everything bad, so I generally try to enjoy every episode. Next weeks looks weird considering what happens this week, and doesn't really make sense. Whatever. I'm focusing on the one that was actually on.
I have to say that at first I was sort not interested in an episode about Bill Adama. Bleh. I don't hate him, I don't have a problem with him. But I also don't find him incredibly interesting or awesome. Well thts okay, because I was interested in his history and I enjoyed it. I never really thought that Roslin and Adama should hook up, until now. Which is good, because they definitely shouldn't have hooked up before at all. But it seems nice, and it makes sense at this point, in that they've known each other for years, their relationship is good and they're both in similar sort of positions. I'm not interested in that being a big deal in the show. That would not be interseting. But I liked the flirting and the kindness and relationship. It's a good relationship and it makes sense that it would grow. I still can't find myself too interested in Apollo's drama however. He won't just say things and try to talk about stuff and learn or change. It was somewhat interested to learn about Bill Adama's ex wife and family life, but I think it might have been more interesting had it been shown earlier in the series/closer to the destruction of the colonies. It didn't really feel very important to anything actually going on in the show right now, besides what is going on in Adama's head. Which is of course important, but not pivitol.
I don't think putting Lee in charge of Baltar's trial would be a good idea. He is probably not the best candidate. However I can't think of anyone who would be better. Maybe Dualla (seeing as how Lee has no legal experience, she's not really a worse candidate.) Maybe someone that was on New Caprica. I dunno. I am nervous about how the whole trial goes down. Because I SO SO SO do not want Baltar to die. He is awesome, and I don't want James Callis to leave the show. But I don't see a good way for Baltar to live through it either. It doesn't make much sense that those people would want him to live really. And really, what the hell would he do after a trial in which he lives? Be in prison? Be free to hang out on Galactica? I don't know. I don't things are going to go well for my Baltar lovin' with the trial.
And as for Cally and Tyrol. Ugh at the beginning I was annoyed with them before anything even happened. But I didn't mind them after their air started leaking out, and they stopped being asses. And man is their baby fat, or do I just not know how babies are supposed to look? I thought their rescue, their flinging into the raptor was sort of funny. It made me laugh, cos its not what I expected to see and it seemed really magically easy that they flung right in there. Getting them stuck seemed sort of pointless, except that it caused Cally, Galen and Bill to think a little bit more about thier lives. But it almost felt random, because nothing was substatially changed or effected by it. Well, that's not entirely true. But the only things affected in basically this whole episode were Cally and Galen's relationship. Which is fine, but it wasn't really shown that much anyway. And Bill's and Laura's relationship. And that was changed even less, but I am more interested in that one anyway.
So yeah I liked this episode. I definitely liked it better than last weeks. This one was sort of lighter, and had a funny line about a rash. That line was so incredibly random and I hope it was just a throwaway line. And as for the cut scene: weird, almost random. And sort of funny. Definitely a good idea to cut that out of the episode, but it's cool they showed it. I used to think that it was stupid to cut the scenes and then show them. But I liked it here, because it was a good thing not to have that in the episode, because its so weird. But i liked seeing it in its weird glory.
