pretty little liars is back!!

So I wrote a post about Pretty Little Liars. Including spoilers up to the most recent episode (4.15) which was actually called Love ShAck. Too bad the episode title is slightly more exciting sounding than the episode ended up being. (Also as a warning, some general negativity about the show in this post as well.)

As probably most of the people who watched, I knew someone was gonna steal that damn diary er....I mean journal back. Those actual dummies. At least FINALLY Spencer took pictures of some of the pages. They should have done that as soon as they all found out. They could all have had digital copies on their phone, and make hard copies as well. WHY wouldn't they!! Because plot dictates they must be continually stupid, unfortunately.

I did enjoy when Ezra just randomly showing up at Hanna's house for absolutely no goddamned reason plausible (and why did Ashley let him in the house so long?? I would have been far more confused about a damn teacher showing up in the middle of the night. Especially when she doesn't even know about him and Aria I think). Anyway him rooting through Hanna's stuff was vaguely amusing. And wonder what he did to her computer... I saw some people saying it might have something to do with the car or the GPS that A hacked but I don't know if that was it.

Also I feel like it's almost obvious now that the hoodie we see in these episodes is not Ezra. The show tends to repeat its patterns. If they don't show you the face of the person in the hoodie, and they just hint hint hint, then its definitely NOT who they're hinting at!

At this point in time, I really don't trust the show any more. Not after the Toby mess. Part of me feels like I shouldn't bother getting sucked in again, but another part of me just enjoys the ridiculous ride and doesn't see why not. It doesn't make me as upset as some other shows when it is ridiculous, because it's always been ridiculous. And it's getting more ridiculous now (not always in a good way). Too many repeated plot beats. The only good thing going now is that they did actually change things up a bnt with Alison being alive and now legit interacting with them. I was somewhat happy with Emily's conflicted feelings about Alison being back. I'm glad shes recognizing that Alison was a huge jackass to her and used her. And just because Ali is scared or on the run or being tortured herself, it doesn't somehow make up for her being abusive to her friends so much.

I have zero faith that the show won't do a surprise switch back with Ezra and make him not really all so bad and still more or less good/loves Aria/bhal blah blah. The shit they pulled with Toby being part of A and being forgiven pretty much instantly and then forgotten about still makes me mad. I hate his character now and am annoyed they keep him around still. Ezra was not made out to be a victim and sad puppy like Toby though. He was a creeper before the "reveal", despite the show not really addressing that ever. It makes more sense for him to be evilllll though and they could do amazing things with it. They won't though. They'll do it half assuredly and moderately disappointingly. They did Mona being evil (/awesomely evil) pretty well though. Maybe they just handle female characters better than male overall! (Except when so many of them have to carry the idiot ball so often for plot reasons).

On a more general note, it's disappointing there's no ta lot of places to read discussions about PLL online. There's an active fandom on tumblr, but finding actual discussion/meta on tumblr is near impossible. I'm stuck with actually checking TWOP because there is some discussion there; sometimes it's actually interesting even. And afterellen. If you watch PLL and haven't read the recaps at afterellen, I highly suggest it. They are the funniest most amazing recaps in existence.
