it's also really late
So I caught up on the latest two episodes of Nikita tonight. Next week (assuming they don't postpone it because of holiday shit) is the series finale.
Also I don't know if it's relevant but I feel like I need to explain that most of my word vomit and ~feelings~ are due to some intoxication on my part this evening.
Checking the Nikita tag on tumblr tonight its clear I'm not watching this show right (kidding mostly, I'm really just a fan of different stuff, but it's still amusing how different it is from my own thoughts). Part of it is probably just due to the fact that I only started watching it some months ago via netflix and am not as invested in it as so many others.
I was sad Ryan died but it at least made sense sort of, and I was eventually expecting him to just kill himself in that situation; the situation seemed set up just to make him do that. Also they clearly just wanted to kill off a character since it was the end of the series and he was the logical one. Which I basically say because he was the only one not really paired up with anyone. Odd man out, so I guess he's dead!
Also I was sort of confused that Nikita and Michael are all together and happy now? Because he sort of rejected her a few episodes ago, although it was sort of a stupid vague rejection. Clearly he got over it which is fine, I just felt like I missed something. And I actually halfway cared about them being happy together this episode. (Yeahhhh I'm not really a shipper on this show apparently!)
I was sort of okay with Alex and Sam!Owen hooking up. Partly because I didn't give a damn about Alex and that dude that died last season who was a sort of main character but I can't even remember his name now. Clearly he was super important to me. Also Sam is hot and hopefully he will end up a bit more Owen like (aka less of an asshole).
Anyway I am deeply pleased that the show finally fucking addresses the Nikita and Alex friendship again. That relationship was really in the back-burner lately and I was somewhat annoyed this whole season (all 5 episodes of it) that they weren't getting to do anything together or even fucking interact. And as soon as Nikita started talking to someone on the phone like that I was seriously more emotional than I was about anything else in the entire episode. Because I knew it had to be Alex and she was finally going to fucking reunite with her and kick some ass. That relationship is literally what made me keep watching this show. It's the one I am most invested in.
It makes me sort of feel like the show understands the significance of their friendship because it seems like they were building it up until the last episode. Like they showed Nikita and Michael being all lovey happy (and Alex/Sam is just sort of a random throw away almost to me). The show respects the Nikita/Alex friendship and hopefully the last episode will give them the time and opportunity to actually have a relationship this season. As well as wrap up a fuckton of stuff. Seriously I don't know how that episode isn't going to be at least 2 hours long, but I don't think it is.
(Although on the other hand, possibly the show just doesn't really care about the Nikita/Alex friendship and that's why it was ignored all this season and put aside last season and they're just throwing the fans a bone by at least making the last episode seem like they'll have some sort of interaction in the series finale. My own pessimism prevents me from having too much faith in anything apparently.)

Nikita and Michael "reunited" in the last episode. It wasn't a reunion so much as Michael ceasing to be a dick but whatever. After the explosion thing, Nikita woke up and Michael told her it was over and they kissed. That was all it took, apparently.
Poor Sean, lol. I know a lot of people didn't care about him but I liked him and thought he was good for Alex. I don't like Sam/Alex but I also know there's not enough time to really go there so whatever.
ALEX/NIKITA FINALLY!!! Ugh, I've been annoyed all season by their lack of interaction and while I'd love to believe 50% of the finale will be devoted to Alex-Nikita shenanigans and badassery, I highly doubt we'll be that lucky. But ITA that their relationship is the heart of the series and I wish the writers realized that.

Also you're probably more right about why Ryan was killed off as opposed to the other ones. They would either destroy her oto much or not matter enough to be significant.
Thanks for the recap on the Michale and Nikita reunion. Clearly I wasn't paying enough attention or just thought it'd be made more of a big deal!
Looking forward to the finale tonight (well in a way anyway, don't really want it to be over!). Hopefully at least some Alex/Nikita kicking ass stuff!
