A post, with words and thoughts!

Apparently some people (I say because I read too much about tv shit) really disliked the Irene=Moriarty thing. Mostly because it messes up canon and the characters. (Which is sort of silly to me because Irene appears in one story in the ACD canon, and it's one of the few I've actually read. And Moriarty doesn't appear in many more, I don't think. So it's not like they're really beloved characters from ACD canon just from one or two stories! I mean really, how attached can you be to a character that has such little exposure. Sure, some, but seems odd to me that it would be enough to be upset about their modern portrayal basically 100 years later!) So I don't really have a lot of problem messing with the original canon. And yes I say that now and I mean it, but probably part of it is because I wasn't into the original canon on it's own in any way, so it doesn't affect me as much. If someone wants to screw around with an original canon that I already love (ie Farscape or B5) I would probably be hella annoyed and complain even more than the people complaining about this!

Also part of me is afraid that they're gonna take back the Irene=Moriarty thing next season or sometime in the future. I really hope they don't though, because I like it a lot. Also apparently I'm now a fan of Natalie Dormer. (Though not enough to watch the other stuff she's in.) I am always sort of very meh with actresses when I just see their pictures and I vaguely thought, I really doubt she's gonna be as interesting as everyone seems to think she is. But yeah she was pretty awesome and I am looking forward to the show bringing her back so I can see more of her!

Also I realized something completely unrelated.... I don't really get the extreme exaggeration or use of hyperbole or whatever that people use on tumblr, and now lj more and more. Where the comments or tabs consist of saying how something makes you have so many emotions you freak out and are crying forever or clawing your face off or running around screaming, dying, etc. I mean, clearly I get the usage of it, but it's not something I can really do. I mean, I can't even bring myself to type that excitedly. I just don't have that kind of emotion or excitement in me to even fake it. Which is a slightly strange feeling personally.
goodbyebird: Elementary: Joan and Sherlock in black and white, most of their faces hidden friom view. (Elementary partners in crimesolving)

Natalie Dormer keeps trying to make me watch both The Tudors and Game of Thrones, but so far I am valiantly resisting. She's a great actress though. Pity somebody spoiled me for her being Irene, I probably would have had some flailing going on when she showed up if not. But I thought it was handled well, and they sidestepped all the grossness Sherlock did with her character, and actually made her Moriarty! And then she was all "let's have dinner", but with Joan! I love how Elementary keeps flipping these things about.

The best thing about it for me though, is how if the fandom really takes off now that season 1 has concluded, it won't come with the underlying bitterness caused by a male Moriarty having brought in all the slash fans. I am really not up for this being a WHITE DUDE PENISES YAY fandom.

On tumblr, I'll use #dying for when something makes me cackle, and also talk about flailing because that's something I will actually do in rl. The other stuff's not really in my emotional vocabulary at all, but I don't mind if other people want to roll around in it either ;)
