scandal in belgravia
Sherlock. Oh so many feelings. A lot of feelings.
If you pay attention to the things I write about Sherlock you might know that I have an investment in the Sherlock/John ship. And when I say investment, I mean an over the top obsessive never ending love and they are basically my OTP of all time, and I can never read enough fic about them and I love them forever and all the feelings ever in the world.
*ahem*
So it was with much apprehension that I watched A Scandal in Belgravia. I still can't say if I like it or not. I liked parts of it a lot, and I was just genuinely happy to to see my boys again. As well as get plot resolution to the pool scene, after reading dozens of fics about it. There were also parts I didn't really care for at all.
I knew Moffat was the writer going in, which after how I felt about what he did to Doctor Who this past season, I did not have much optimism that it was going to be good in some respects. I was disappointed that there was so much Sherlock and Irene stuff in it; I was disappointed that they had Irene be supposedly in love (or something?) with Sherlock, I didn't understand her motivations a lot of the time. I was disappointed that they ultimately did not let her win over Sherlock and had him beat her, and then on top of that, they had to have him save her life. I though her badassery was minimized at the end and it was disappointing.
Also there was too much Irene and not enough John. I can't pretend I'm not all about my ship. The little Sherlock and John interaction there was was not only non shippy but usually focused on Irene. Granted there were good moments between them, and I did enjoy John's jealousy over Irene. I am basically holding out hope that has to be some significant scenes between John and Sherlock in the next two episodes tocancel out make up for the Sherlock and Irene stuff in this episode.
I'm excited to watch the next episode tonight, partly because most of the spoilery pics and gifs I've seen were from that first episode, and I really don't know what's going to happen in this episode. I vaguely know the plot, but seeing as how far Scandal deviated from the ACD plot, that doesn't really mean much. Anyway I can only hope for more shippiness in this episode.
Having there be no Sherlock for over a year and then three new episodes in three weeks is clearly too much for me emotionally! I've only watched this episode twice and I have barely hit on half of my feelings about it!

I thought John's jealousy was overddone, but I think I told you that already.
And I can't believe you do NOT know what happens in HotB! That's like the one Sherlock story I DO remember!

Also I thought John's jealous was NOT overdone but that is mostly due to my one-track shippy mind :) So for me it sort of balances out him screaming about how he's not gay.
You are the one that had no idea what happens in Reichenbach but apparently you know all about HoTB! So yeah I'm the failure. I know it's something about a dog (LOL) and maybe its an evil dog? Ok, I really have no idea! Whatever, I know other canon stories, just not this one!

And as someone pointed out - she did win over Sherlock. Enough for him to risk his own life and save her and help her fake her death. Again. Yes, that scene kind of diminishes her badassery, though.
Hounds was just amazing. I can't even wrap my head around it. I need to see it again.

I felt like the episode went too fast for how much stuff happened in it too, but maybe I just need to watch it again to really feel the full extent. (I'm sort of putting off rewatching it a lot since we don't even know when there's going to be a season three!)
I'm so excited to watch Hound now! My download is still a few minutes from being finished....so glad to hear it's amazing!
