Apparently livejournal might be removing the subject line in comments.

Live journal if you do this, I will not be happy. LJ has done a lot of stupid shit (and yeah some of it was worse than this) but this is not cool. It's not necessarily a huge deal except kinkmemes and other types of fandom-oriented communities/journals always use the comment subject line. They won't work properly without comment subject lines!

Maybe I should go try to find a Dreamwidth invite code just to get my name secured over there in case this shit actually happens.

I do like it at LJ because that's where so much of everything is, but they just seem to want to piss the users off sometimes.

LJ pisses me off a lot of the time, but it's still where everything is, so I stay. Hopefully at some point they'll go too far and there'll be a new place for fandom to be, but I feel like we've been saying that for years, so.

I really hope they don't, I wish they would just stop coming up with new ideas. If it's not broke don't fix it, things are fine the way they are. I'll still stick with LJ though, I have a paid account and I still love the fandom on LJ.

Agreed completely. There are things that are actually not working properly but they want to take away something people use.

I do love fandom here, because there's so much and it's all great.

There really is no benefit to removing the comment lines. Well besides to piss off half their user base.

I just created a DW account (same name) but I don't think I'll actually be moving over there unless things really go downhill here on LJ.

I am going to call this rumor because I see NOTHING in any of the LJ communities stating this... and finding it in an Anon comm does not say 'trustworthy' to me.

So... my take... don't get upset until you see it in their releases community and/or their news communitiy. Which are official LJ communities. AND as they have shown in the past. once a billion people reply to it negatively, they will roll back the changes.

They did it with the publicly noting city and state of the IP logging and they recently did it with a couple releases ago (I can't remember exactly what it was)

BUT.... I can't see them removing a feature that is so... 'internet 101.'

Yeah there's still nothing definite which is a good sign by far. I'm not upset so much as annoyed at the possibility I think. Hopefully this won't ever come to fruition and it will all just be stressing out for nothing!
