ugh technology fail

So I redid my entire desktop computer, putting it back to its original factory settings. (Mostly I did this because this was the computer the ex used, and he put so much crap on it, it was hard to really do anything on it). So I've got it up and running mostly where I like it. HOWEVER. I had saved all my graphics, textures, etc on a disc before I erased the computer. Unfortunately they didn't actually save at all. So I have lost all my graphics and my huge folder of icon textures. Which really sucks. A lot.

I also downloaded Firefox 4 which might have been a mistake, because I'm finding a bit too confusing and I can't get everything exactly how I like it.

And so now my evening will be trying to make this computer even close to how I want it and try to replace my icon textures folder in some small part. Ugh.

Blergh. I hope replacing your textures doesn't get too ridiculous, because yeah, that is as frustrating as anything.

Dude, was your huge folder of icon textures the one you sent me? Because I still have it, intact and unchanged. I can just upload it for you, or burn it onto a disc, if you want.

I'm sorry to hear about that, though - I had that happen once to me when my external hard drive screwed up, and I literally sat on the floor in front of my computer and cried for ten solid minutes. Let me know if there's anything else you're missing or need to replace and I'll see if I have it/can procure it.

I would be so grateful if you could upload it for me. I tried to check and see if it was still uploaded when I posted it to share with you but I don't think it is.

The only other stuff that I lost is a couple of icons I had made and some other graphics I was working on. Wasn't too bad really. It was just all those textures I had saved!!

Ugh, I'm sorry. This is the stuff that makes me so paranoid about client work and how different places I should be backing it up.

Yeah, make sure you triple check where you're saving things too apparently.

Ack! I hope you get everything back. My laptop died in January and while I was able to make a copy of the harddrive I can't find everything (I think some things didn't copy properly to the external since it was in its death throes). It's such a sinking feeling.

Luckily I didn't lose everything, because I have most of it on my laptop, but I lost all my graphics stuff though. So I guess it could have been much worse.
