Fringe 2.3
Yep, it's that time again. Just my ramblings while rewatching Fringe. Spoilers through season two!
So I guess Sam Weiss is sorta like a cryptic, suspicious, quirky occupational therapist? Like, here's how to tie your shoes, Olivia and now I'll be vague and wise and not really tell you much.
I kinda like him but sometimes I get annoyed with his smirky non-helpfulness.
Aw Peter and Walter are being cute and friendly with each other, I love it
Astrid is so underused. I really, really hope she gets more to do in season 3.
Peter keeps calling Olivia just "Dunham" this episode. I don't think he's said her first name once yet. I don't think that's actually important, it's just something I randomly noticed.
Ha, does Olivia really stick around and keep score for the kids bowling league? I can't tell you how much I'd love to see scenes of that.
Also Peter eating a cheeseburger in front of Gene.... I don't know why that is so funny, but when he takes the giant bite of it and the cow practically scream-moos, I can't help but laugh.
It's time to go to Iraq! And how convenient for Peter that the one dude he needs to talk to is in presumably the first bar they walk into. And this dude is fairly nice to Peter, even though he seems to not really like him. He basically accuses Peter of not caring about innocent lives in the past.

Peter really needs to ditch that leather jacket, it's not really working for him at all.
So this bad guy Colonel wants the briefcase from trench coat guy? But why does he blow up the person who's receiving the briefcase. Just to destroy the briefcase, or because he some how wants the info? God I am so stupid, I don't even remember why he's doing any of this.
It has been way more than thirty seconds since the signal went off. Olivia smashing the device with her cane, ftw! Peter really angrily beating up the Colonel, is just sort of confusing at how mad he seems about the whole thing.
And I figured it out, the Colonel guy was trying to destroy whatever was in the briefcase..... because he doesn't want the Observers to get surveillance pictures of Walter (or Walternate?). Why? Who the hell knows.
Olivia pulling a gun on Weiss because he's pissing her off -- awesome!
OK so now the bad Colonel guy is yapping about the end coming, sending a message, "they" are here, collecting data, making observations. So is the colonel guy fighting against the Observers? He says they want to exterminate us, and that;s why they are studying us, studying our tech and science to use it against us. I don't think this line of reasoning gets touched on much later. Are we just to assume this dude is misinformed and raging against the Observers when they don't deserve it? Or is it really important and they are trying to destroy us or something?
Also I do think those are pictures of Walter, and not Walternate, because he's dressed more like what Walter wears, and every time we've seen Walternate he's been in a suit. I don't think he's walking around being the alt Secretary of Defense in old man clothes.

I forgot about the pea coat, that one is the best. I like any other coat besides that stupid leather one though!
I do love Walter's old man clothes too, he looks adorable in them. I just remember not being sure who those pictures were of when the episode originally aired. And now after seeing Walternate, it's pretty obvious they're pictures of Walter.
